Anyone who downloads files and takes photos and videos on their cell phone every day will quickly reach their storage limits. However, there are easy ways to free up storage space.
- If you reach the memory limits of your cell phone, you can find relief by deleting the cache.
- The cache temporarily stores data that is accessed frequently to speed up retrieval.
- It can be deleted via the smartphone settings or through third-party apps.
It’s hard to imagine life without the smartphone these days. It fulfills many functions in everyday life. It is therefore not uncommon for some of you to quickly reach the memory limits of your devices – this is particularly the case with inexpensive cell phones.
There is a simple way to free up a larger amount of storage space without having to delete important data on your cell phone: clearing the cache. However, this is according to a survey by the US portal Android Authority not known to many users. Below we explain what you can do to free up storage space.
What is the cache?
First of all, the cache is not a bad thing. It is a buffer. As a rule, data that is accessed frequently is stored in the cache in order to speed up access to this data. For example, apps and websites can be accessed more quickly if larger amounts of data such as images are cached – basically a useful function. However, it happens that during long and intensive use, a larger amount of data accumulates in the cache and this consumes a correspondingly large amount of storage space.
