Conclusion: Time-saving and practical
If you turn on your new television, you will notice that the TV channels are sorted a little differently than you are used to. So that you can find your way around better in the future and quickly access your favorite stations, it helps to create a station list.
However, there are a few things to keep in mind. The sorting process is different for every TV manufacturer. In addition, some remote controls and sometimes the menu navigation on older devices differ from their current counterparts, so the individual steps may vary slightly depending on the TV setup. At this point we would like to give you a better overview.
Arrange channels according to your wishes
In contrast to large streaming apps such as Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, some of which have their own button on modern remote controls and are therefore easily accessible, you can usually only assign live TV channels to number slots.
There are three possible sources to choose from: satellite, analog, digital. Some devices allow all three image and sound sources to be displayed in a common channel list, while other devices separate them. In the latter case, you then have to create the channel lists individually.
For this type of channel sorting, the programs must be installed on your television, as is common with many smart TVs. If you use a receiver for the TV program, you may have to sort the channels directly on your receiver.
Below we will show you examples of how channel sorting works for some manufacturers and what you should pay attention to. You can also follow these steps if you use devices from a manufacturer that is not listed in the following instructions.
Remove and restore channels on Samsung TVs
If you have a Samsung Smart TV, you need to check whether you have a model from 2014 or later before sorting the channels. These devices from the JH, J, K, M, N, R, T, A and QLED series all have a similar procedure, which you can see step by step below.
The first step is to press the Home button on your Samsung remote control and then go to the “Source” area at the bottom left of your screen. Don't you have a remote control at hand? With a few tricks you can quickly replace your lost remote control.

You can then go to the channel list using the Samsung TV Plus app. Here you select the āEdit channelā option at the bottom left. Once you have done that, confirm your entry. Use the directional buttons on your remote control to navigate to the channel you want to move. Use the enter key to select it.
Now select the menu item āChange numberā under the live image. You can use the direction buttons on the remote control to move the selected station to its new location and confirm your entry. The individual channels can also be ālockedā, āremovedā and ārenamedā. If you want to change your selection, all you need to do is select āRestore Samsung TV Plus channelsā.

When receiving television via satellite, the broadcast slots are fixed starting with number 100. If you would like to sort your channel list, places 1 – 99 are available.
Smart TV: How to turn off advertising
Disable additional commercials
In addition to normal advertising, you will see additional commercials and pop-up advertisements on smart TVs. Pretty annoying in the long run. But you can turn off this advertising.
Older Samsung devices
With older Samsung devices, such as the F series (2013) or with even older Smart TVs, there are sometimes significant differences in the layout of the remote control and the naming of the functions. For some device series, you don't have to go to the channel sorting menu, but have to use the so-called Smart Hub.
Channel sorting on Philips TVs
You can adapt the channels on your Philips TV to your viewing habits by first clicking on the “List” button at the top of your remote control, which shows three dashed lines. The channel list is listed below, which you can edit by pressing the āgreenā color button.

You can also easily create a favorites list in the channel settings to find your favorite channels more quickly. Once you have selected a station that you want to move in the order, tap the “plus” button on your remote control. You then navigate in the channel list to reposition the channel.
LG TV: The channel manager will take care of it
Other large manufacturers, such as LG, have a channel manager that you can access via the menu on your TV remote control. However, the process is in principle very similar to that of all other providers and can be completed in just a few steps.

You can use the channel manager to adjust the order of your channels by selecting them with the remote control. In the program menu at the bottom right of your screen you have a selection of options such as moving the channels in position or hiding them completely.
Sony TV: swap channel order
Sorting your channels is easy on the Sony TV. The first step is to use the āHomeā button to go to the menu and then to the settings. There you will find the āChannels & Inputsā and āChannelsā section. At this point you can edit the channel list and change the order or remove channels from your list completely.

If you click on individual channels in the channel list, you can determine which new position they should take. The order is simply swapped. You then just need to confirm your selection with the āOKā button on your remote control.
Out of sight, out of mind: Hide channels on TCL TV
If you want to adjust the channels on your TCL TV, you can do this easily via the channel settings. There you select the āChannelā option. In this area you can then carry out a channel search, delete entire channel lists or redefine the order of the channels. Hiding some channels is also an option; the channel is marked yellow with an eye symbol.

Grundig TV: Which channel is your favorite?
To adjust the channels on your Grundig TV, first go to the apps in the menu and then to āEdit channelsā. Here you can then move your channels to a different position so that you can access your favorite channels immediately. You can easily swap the order of the channels without moving all the channels.

To create a favorites list on your Grundig TV, first use your remote control to edit your channels in the menu. Here you have the option to mark the channels you want to include in the list. This helps to get an overview and to have your most used channels at a glance. You also have the option of saving several such lists if you want to divide them into areas such as sports or series.
Conclusion: Time-saving and practical
In summary, you can save time and avoid frustration by sorting your TV channel list well. The setup is easy and takes just a few minutes.
