Disney’s efforts to bring its animated classics to live-action have been hit or miss at the box office, but the box office success was huge enough to keep the tradition alive. The company is currently setting its sights on a Prince Charming movie directed by “Paddington” and “Wonka Wonka” star Paul King, with Chris Hemsworth likely to star.
Deadline shared the news on October 23, saying that the project is moving forward quickly at Disney, with a script from Simon Farnaby (“Paddington 2”), Jon Crocker (“No One Lives”) Co-written with King himself.

Hemsworth is still a big name at Disney for obvious reasons, and while he’ll likely be part of the Avengers: Doomsday lineup next year, his schedule seems to allow him to shoot the movie sooner rather than later .
This once again raises the question of whether Hemsworth is “box office poison” outside of his Marvel movies, or if he’s simply unlucky with his non-Thor projects. This year alone, Furiosa: The Mad Max Legend and Transformers 1 both flopped, despite high profile IPs and Hemsworth leading their respective casts.
Paul King, on the other hand, joins the Disney family and is still in peak form as he was with last year’s Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Wonka,” which grossed more than $600 million worldwide and firmly convinced critics and Fan recognition of the character. So far, his post-Paddington years (he’s not directing the third installment) seem entirely focused on family-friendly, colorful projects, so it’s hard to argue with him grabbing a bunch of money from Disney to try to make a splash on the big screen. Reimagine Prince Charming on film. Screen.
Details of the project have yet to emerge, but Deadline’s source says “the film won’t have an explicit connection to Cinderella,” which could help it hook up with Kenneth Branagh Directed by 2015 “Cinderella” reimagined version to distinguish. Looking at King’s previous work, the fact that he’s working on the script with a Paddington veteran, and Chris Hemsworth’s strong comedic talents and current age, what if we’re looking at a midlife crisis for this character? ? This might be refreshing.
By the way, if you’re a Tyler Rake fan, showrunners Joe and Anthony Russo (now putting the final touches on Electric State before returning to Marvel) have confirmed that Extinction 3 is in the works Filming is set to begin next year, so Hemsworth is looking pretty busy right now.
