Chronic Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order 2: A sequel to the dark side?
May the 4th has passed, and Jedi Fallen Order has just acquired a New Game Plus. The perfect opportunity to ask yourself and think about what a sequel to the episode developed by Respawn could give. There are already quite a few interesting avenues to explore, which we invite you to discover in this new fast-forward issue.

Our expectations
Infiltration on some sequences
With its formula effectively combining action, platforms and puzzles, Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order convinced us of its structure. The second episode is therefore not expected to upset her completely, but to refine it with a few additions. We are first thinking of implementing a real concealment system. In a hostile world, to see Cal Kestis indulge in infiltration would seem quite logical. The idea could also be limited to only a few more open sequences, leaving you the choice of discretion or frontal approach, a bit like what an Uncharted 4: A Thief's End does, for example. .
More integrated side characters
Cal Kestis was accompanied by a droid by the name of BD-1, who sometimes helped him with his task. But we would like the next installment to include more secondary characters at the heart of the game, rather than using them only to advance the scenario. One of the interesting ideas would be to be able to play a few sequences with Merrin, who has interesting powers that you could see in action in the first opus. There could also be light management of your teammates, which could help you punctually in your task, or be ordered to create attack combinations. There is no shortage of possibilities, and that would likely add a little more empathy to these characters.
No more planets, no more secondary objectives
Players always want more, and we are no different. The argument is more basic, but we would love to be able to explore more planets in the next episode. This slightly extended playing field could also go hand in hand with more secondary objectives, with why not optional quests allowing you to deepen your relations with each of the characters around Cal Kestis, or to discover winks to the extended universe of the saga.
References to other works in the saga
And there is a lot to do in terms of the extended universe. Jedi Fallen Order takes place a few years after the Revenge of the Sith, a period conducive to the appearance of several characters. Among the best known would obviously be Dark Maul or Obi-Wan Kenobi, but we can also hope for a nod to Ahsoka Tano, who appears in the Clone Wars and Rebels series. There would even be reason to make a real link with this last series, since Jedi Fallen Order takes place before. Why not also explore the genesis of the rebellion, with possible tensions between its different figures r anging from Saw Gerrera to Mon Mothma? Likewise, Cal Kestis could attempt to rebuild the Jedi order, a task he would fail if relied upon by the known lore of Star Wars. But that wouldn’t make the plot less interesting.
More details for immersion
The idea is much more trivial, but still missed a little in the first episode: why not add more customization of the character instead of limiting it to a change of poncho and color of the outfits? Adopting another hairstyle, or wearing different clothes would be great options. The first title was already very comprehensive on the customization of the lightsaber, which is why we would like to see the idea applied to other elements. Finally, the lack of dismemberment of the humanoids made much talk in the first opus. We would obviously like it to be possible to carry out in its suite, the lightsaber being a particularly suitable tool. Ideally, it could even be a tactical element in combat that could maim an enemy to save time, for example.
Our dreams
Being able to switch to the dark side
Cal Kestis seems able to withstand the call from the dark side. What if we let the players decide? In a title that gives pride of place to the jedis and the inquisitors, being able to choose to opt for the light or dark side would necessarily appeal to fans of the saga. This would already allow us to access powers excluded from the apprenticeships on Tuesday, but also to offer one or more alternative sequences. Cal Kestis could for example choose to sacrifice himself at the end of the game by leaving a clue or a useful object for the success of the future rebellion. Or conversely, he could change allegiance, and join the ranks of the inquisitors. These are just two examples of possible tracks, but they would already offer something to vary the gaming experience a bit and offer replayability.
Further use of the vessel
The "clean" side of the Jedi Fallen Order gameplay doesn't have to be heavy with overly advanced RPG mechanics. On the other hand, the idea of being entitled to a few space battles does not seem incongruous, especially since it could be accompanied by light elements of management. This would allow us, for example, to improve our ship or assign teammates to specific tasks during battles. Again, this would not be a major mechanic, but it would be a good way to break the routine of a title taking place for the rest exclusively on the ground.
Choose the light or dark side of the force, add the dismemberments, and integrate famous characters with the adventure, the tracks are not lacking for a continuation of Jedi Fallen Order. It remains to be seen what the Respawn studio will choose to do, but that will require patience.
