Will Cobra Kai Season 6 see Jaden Smith return as Dre Parker from the 2010 reboot of The Karate Kid? After Season 5, here’s a perfect opportunity!

  • “Cobra Kai” could bring back an old acquaintance in season 6.
  • An appearance by Jaden Smith would tie the Karate Kid franchise to the 2010 reboot.
  • Sekai Takai would be the perfect place for a gathering of karate professionals.

First Terry Silver, now Mike Barnes and Jessica Andrews – the producers of “Cobra Kai” are bringing every surviving character from the “Karate Kid” films back to Reseda in the Netflix series. But who’s left for Season 6? Sure, Hillary Swank from ‘The Next Generation’ Karate Kid has to appear, but 2010’s ‘The Karate Kid’ also has characters who could return in ‘Cobra Kai’.

First and foremost is Dre Parker, played by Jaden Smith, as he embodied the Daniel LaRusso of the reboot. Although the 2010 “Karate Kid” is actually a remake and therefore not part of the film universe of the old films, since all the characters have different names, it cannot be ruled out that the events of “Karate Kid” are still the same 26 years later once happened in China.

Now, 12 years later, Dre Parker could still be an avid karate fighter – either in China or anywhere else in the world. Until now, however, if Dre just showed up in the Valley and joined Daniel or Johnny, it would have been too much of a coincidence.

Kung Fu Kid

Even if the “Karate Kid” film from 2010 actually sticks quite closely to the sequence of the original, there is one crucial difference: Dre Parker does not learn karate, but kung fu. Why is the film still called “The Karate Kid”? Nobody knows! “Cobra Kai” would have to explain why Dre became a karate fighter. Because even if several martial arts meet in Sekai Takai, hardly any karate fighters would compete against kung fu fighters.

However, season 6 of “Cobra Kai” offers the perfect opportunity to connect the worlds of “The Karate Kid” (1984) and “The Karate Kid” (2010): the Sekai-Takai Tournament. The Sekai Takai was first mentioned in Season 5, so it’s pretty much certain that this international clash of the best dojos will play a role in Season 6.

But it would be a bit boring if Miguel, Sam, Robby and Co. just fought against unknown fighters from unknown dojos. So “Cobra Kai” has to introduce new characters in season 6 or bring back an old acquaintance with Dre Parker.

Theoretically, the Sekai Takai could take place anywhere, including in Beijing, where “Karate Kid” from 2010 played. Jaden Smith is now 24 years old, but Sam actress Mary Mouser is already 26 and that doesn’t prevent her from playing an approximately 18-year-old girl. So Dre Parker would definitely still be a potential karate student – but from which dojo?

In “The Karate Kid”, Dre was the student of Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), a new version of Mr. Miyagi. Theoretically, Mr. Han could also star in “Cobra Kai”, but it is questionable whether Jackie Chan would be interested in returning. A lot of time has passed, so Mr. Han could be dead or Dre has joined a new dojo for other reasons.

But would it be a “bad” dojo so that we can keep our fingers crossed for our previous heroes and heroines from “Cobra Kai” or does it get exciting because we get to know a new interesting dojo and suddenly it’s no longer so clear who will win target?

Either way, the Sekai Takai and the change of scenery that the tournament brings provides the perfect opportunity for the return of Jaden Smith’s Dre Parker. Julie Pierce, i.e. Hillary Swank, could theoretically also appear here, possibly in a leading role.

So far, season 6 of “Cobra Kai” has of course to be confirmed first, but a sequel is likely. Netzwelt reveals what else awaits you in season 6. You can also find a preview of the upcoming Netflix novelties here.
