Call of Duty: Warzone 2 has a lot in common with its predecessor. But by no means everything. There are important innovations in the loadout drops, which are not well received by everyone. The boxes with your personal weapon and equipment sets can no longer be requested via the purchase station, but fall from the sky quite late in the match – and then of course all teams fight about it. Alternatively, you get loadouts as a reward for conquering AI fortresses.

Our shooter experts Phil and Petra discuss in the podcast whether this works better than in Warzone (1):

But now the new system is loosened up in Season 1 Reloaded, at least for a short time. We have all the important information about the loadout grenades and all the changes.

This is new to loadout drops

What changes? You can currently purchase Loadout Drops again at all Buy Stations, be it just for you as a solo player or for your whole team. The price changes depending on:

  • Alone – 8,000 USD
  • Two – 16,000 Dollars
  • Trios – 24.000 Dollar
  • Quads – 32.000 Dollar

A hefty price, then, especially since there’s not a lot of cash lying around on Al Mazrah. For your dollars you get a loadout grenade, which you throw in a place where a loadout box pops up after a few seconds. So be careful where you request the drop so you don’t get caught off guard by an opposing Lionel Messi while looting.

What are the fans saying? Many had been calling for the return of traditional loadout drops from the start. Others, on the other hand, find Warzone 2 fairer because you have to deal with the random loot from the arena instead of holding the preferred loadout in your hands after a few minutes. Lots of material for heated debates Reddit, Twitter and Co. What almost everyone agrees on: The current drops are difficult to finance, especially for squads, especially if you don’t manage to crack a safe.

Are the loadout grenades permanent? According to Warzone developer Raven Software, this depends on how the community reacts to it and how it affects balancing. It has not yet been determined whether the feature will remain in the game permanently or will be phased out again soon:

Just recently, an update for Season 1 Reloaded significantly reduced the cost of loadout weapons at Buy Stations. However, you only get the guns themselves, no perks and field equipment. You can read all the changes from the patch here.
