A mod for C&C: Red Alert 3 lets you play the popular Generals with modern technology. Beta version 0.31 was recently released with many new features. The fan project is called Evolution and ports the contents of Command & Conquer: Generals (in Europey also: Generals) into the engine of the successor released in 2008. To do this, the mod team recreated the original interface, revised lighting and textures for the old and 15 fresh community maps, and added other special abilities and upgrades. The balance of the real-time strategy game has also been adjusted. The basis is the Generals add-on Zero Hour, which in Europey suffered from the same absurd changes due to fear of censorship as the main game. The beta version of Command & Conquer: Generals Evolution is available for free download and includes multiplayer and skirmish games, not the single-player campaigns.
