If you've been living under a rock, the GTA 6 finally got the second trailer of yesterday, people keep begging. Naturally, the former rock star developer dissected YouTuber and made some interesting points about the difference between this trailer and the first trailer.
The developer in question is animator Mike York, who has worked at Rockstar New England for nearly six years and has worked at GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2. We previously reported on his reaction to Trailer One in 2023, when he was shocked by Rockstar's push for hardware restrictions.

York was blown away this time, but mainly for two reasons – a lot of details and Rock star's way “reinforces the class” in terms of lighting with this trailer. In fact, developers believe that the latter may be one of the factors behind the delay of GTA 6 until next May.
York said at the end of his 30-minute trailer analysis: “If you want some quality and it takes time, then whether it’s 13, 15 years, you can carry new secrets with you when you try to do something real like this.

“Sometimes in production, you find that everything changes everything and there may be lights here. They are like ‘oh no’, they figured out how to solve this new thing to make the lighting look better, and then they started working on it 10, 11. They really started to focus on changing a lot of lights and replaying all the lights because they found this new way because they might make a difference in doing these new ways to do the lighting.
“Sometimes it may be redesigned, which could be delays, right? That's why the game gets delayed, as explained in my previous video, is making some decisions along the way to change this path of the game, and it seems that lighting is definitely one of them. They've done something with lighting.”
It can be said that York's bullishness on all this work and details has brought the final product to the final shipment price. “There is no detail and realism of other games that realism does and will have when it is released, so everyone complains that everyone there needs to pull it apart because no matter the price of the game, $80 or whatever else, it will be worth it.
“All of these other games cost $70, $90, I mean, you get Mario Kart for $90 – you think Mario Kart competes with games like this, as long as how much they have to put in,
It's worth checking out the entire York video, as in the trailer, he points out a bunch of interesting things you might miss, including some incredibly subtle animations and nuances that can't get into the GTA 5 due to a time violation.
