XDefiant is once again the victim of leaks. Dataminers have delved into the depths of the game and discovered new features. Some great surprises await us.
XDefiant was released a few weeks ago and is a hit on all platforms. It must be said that Ubisoft’s free FPS has it all. It offers very exciting gameplay and is based on the publisher’s flagship licenses. Therefore, it appeals to as many people as possible and its free-to-play status is of course attractive.
XDefiant is a true service game and is built to last. Ubisoft had already told us that many free updates would arrive gradually, and that is indeed the case. Season 1 has already added a new faction from Rainbow Six Siege, new weapons and a whole bunch of other things. And it’s not over yet, the next seasons will also bring some new features. In addition, some clever people have been data mining, looking for information in the files, and they seem to have succeeded.
XDefiant season 2 theme revealed before its time?
At the moment, all the information that has been leaked should be taken with a grain of salt, as they are only clues and not anything concrete. Even though the discovery confirms previous leaks and statements from Ubisoft, we do not know when and how the next content will be released.
In any case, as Insider Gaming reveals, the dataminers have found some interesting bits and pieces, very interesting in fact. According to the findings, Season 2 would be themed after Far Cry New Dawn, the post-apocalyptic spin-off of Far Cry 5. The new faction would therefore be taken directly from the game and would have a theme revolving around devices built specifically for use, such as turrets. No further information is available at the moment, but weapons have also been discovered, in this case the PP19 submachine gun, the SPAS shotgun and a light machine gun that does not yet have a name. Other mentions of upcoming weapons for future seasons have also been found, such as the M1A, usually a DMR, and the FAMAS assault rifle.
Dataminers have discovered what could happen for future seasons
Through further research, the data miners also discovered content that might arrive after Season 2. Here we will not talk about the faction, but about the theme for Seasons 3, 4 and 5. Assassin’s Creed, Ghost Recon and the Rabbids would be mentioned. While the first two franchises seem obvious, it’s hard to imagine the Rabbids as a playable faction. Cosmetics are much more plausible.
What is certain is that Ubisoft has a lot to do as it explores its portfolio. Some of its licenses could give rise to multiple factions, and XDefiant could go even further by offering us even crazier factions with certain other licenses. We’ll have to wait and see.
Season 1 is currently running and will end shortly. As a reminder, XDefiant is a free-to-play game for PS5, Xbox Series, PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
