Forget Contra, as far as I know, Contra: Rogue Corps is almost there. Of course, I think some people try to include this game in the timeline, but this is essentially an action game focusing on cooperatives, and has little to do with the main Contra series. Is there any benefit to the rogue legion itself? not really. Does this matter? not really. Rogue Corps is one of those non-awesome games, and still can play a lot of fun in lazy games-largely out of the central idea.
Listen: Rogue Corps is a double stick shooting game. You choose one of four playable characters and then play around a bunch of dirty levels to stick it to the ugly bad guys. Playable characters feel like they have been removed from Borderlands, not Contra. One is a giant panda, one has an alien living in its belly, one has its arm drilled, and the other is an egg-child mutation that is very easy to make-they both have two basic weapons and their own characteristics (For example, Kaiser, a drilling expert, can shoot a little bit of fire. There are many ugly villains, but the camera is too far away, and the visual effects are muddy. It is difficult to know much about them. There were many red beef jerky zombies in the early days And shivering pink things, possibly with thruster attachments. These were quickly drawn out, some huge meat umbrellas, an S & M elephant, a turret and a huge exploding brain, and all similar things.
It's not a top double stick. The movement feels like you are operating an industrial floor bumper on a wide peanut crunch, and the aiming is also unstable. The lack of punches and collisions of weapons seems to be unstable, especially through the dash action used to stun and get out of trouble. Level design relies on a few common goals, and longer tasks can be achieved. Even if you play by yourself, you cannot pause the game.
