The action sequel Control 2 has to make up for less money than, for example, Alan Wake 2, but should still be an epic gaming experience.
Remedy Entertainment has confirmed that the next big single player project from the studio, namely Control 2, will be developed with a lower budget. Accordingly, less coal is available for the sci-fi sequel than the last major studio title Alan Wake 2 from 2023.
Alan Wake 2 finally played the higher development costs completely back in, but only passed the profit zone 15 months after the release. This is a very long period of time and certainly not ideal for a title in the quality class AAA, which is why Control 2 should reach the break-even point faster.
Control 2 will be developed with a budget of around 50 million dollars, as CEO Tero Virtala now confirmed in an interview. Publisher Annapurna Interactive also participates in the financing. This value is “somewhat lower” than the budget of Alan Wake 2, but Virtala was convinced that Remedy will be able to deliver a very excellent and ambitious single player experience. If the budget is met, Control 2 can reach the profit zone with two million sales and its development costs completely re -import. A significant profit is expected from four to five million sales.
Control 2 is the sequel for the first part published in 2019, which is considered one of the best games from Remedy. The sequel is already completely in production, but has no release date yet. Previously, Remedy will publish the co-op multiplayer spin-off FBC: Firebreak on June 17, 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
