Dallas federal court overturned Nintendo ’s patent infringement case against Wii Remote Motion technology.
The court ruled that Nintendo's allegedly infringing patent was invalid because plaintiff iLife Technologies Inc. “ does not allow attempts to cover the broad concept of using motion sensors to detect motion & # 39; & # 39 ;.
The ruling canceled a $ 10.1 million jury verdict against Nintendo in 2017.
Invalid patents are the remainder of six patents filed by iLife Technologies against Nintendo in 2013. The Patent Office found that the other five items were invalid in 2016.
"Nintendo has a long history of developing new and unique products, and after many years of litigation, we are pleased that the court agreed with Nintendo," said Ager Singh, Nintendo's deputy general counsel for the United States. "We will continue to vigorously defend our products for companies that are trying to profit from technology that has never been invented."
iLife Technologies initiated a lawsuit against Nintendo in 2013 against its Nintendo Wii remote control technology. The healthcare company claims that Nintendo has infringed on the patent rights of its infant monitors-a patent that can detect whether the latter has fallen.
