May ends with a whole series of interesting games. The two highlights let you both fight battles on huge maps, but otherwise could hardly be more different from each other:
While you stalk through 1944 France in Sniper Elite 5 and scare the occupiers with your sniper rifle, you lovingly rebuild the town of the same name in the cozy development role-playing game My Time at Sandrock.
And if you need a break from playing again, we have not only picked out 12 series tips for Netflix subscribers, but also 15 documentary pearls up our sleeve for those who are particularly inquisitive.
First highlight of the week: Sniper Elite 5
Genre: Shooter | platform: PC, PS4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X | developer: Rebellion | Release: 26. May 2022
Watch Sniper Elite 5
Also in the fifth part of the series with the iconic X-ray camera tracking shots you sneak and shoot your way through the Second World War to thwart the darkest machinations of the Nazis.
This time the secret project Kraken is endangering the Allied landings in Normandy. On the hunt for precise plans and the people who pull the strings behind them, protagonist Karl Fairburne primarily relies on his trusty sniper rifle, which of course can be pimped up with numerous upgrades.
In addition to the well-known campaign co-op, the fifth part also offers the opportunity to face enemy waves together with three other snipers. The invasion mode, on the other hand, allows you to invade other players’ missions and compete there in PvP. Alternatively, you can jump right into the 16-player competitive multiplayer mode.
If you are interested in our first impressions of the game, we have summarized them here for you:

My Time at Sandrock – Portia Sequel Announcement Trailer
Do you love open worlds, crafting and building a thriving settlement? Have you enjoyed Stardew Valley or Animal Crossing in the past? Then our second tip could be just the thing for you.
My Time at Sandrock tasks you with turning the tranquil desert town of Sandrock into a model city 300 years after the apocalypse. You also explore the extensive surrounding area in search of raw materials and relics of the old world and fight all kinds of monsters from the shoulder perspective.
In your production facilities you then produce everything you need for your dream projects, whether it is an enclosure for the numerous animals, a thriving farm on the prairie or a train route between the two.
Of course you have neighbors too: More than 30 NPCs live in Sandrock and invite you in numerous dialogues and quests to get to know them better, to become part of the community and to take part in mini-games. The long-awaited multiplayer mode of the Early Access title will follow in the near future.
If you have not had any contact with the predecessor My Time at Portia or with the other representatives of the genre and are wondering what exactly the fascination lies in, then simply let our colleague Ann-Kathrin tell you:

More exciting game releases of the week
Monday, May 23, 2022:
- Soda Crisis: In the fast-paced side-scrolling shooter, you dash through wacky sci-fi levels as a coke can that saves the world, while constantly upgrading and destroying high-tech bosses on a regular basis. Should you be recycled into aluminum cans in the effect thunderstorm, you jump right back into the action thanks to charge-free checkpoints.
Ofinstag, 24. May 2022:
- Crossfire Legion: The real-time strategy game with a setting in the near future wants to pick up fans of Command & Conquer: Generals in particular. Accordingly, the focus is on building bases, acquiring and tactically using resources and, of course, on exciting real-time battles between your armies. In addition to the story campaign, there is also a competitive multiplayer mode.
What makes the surprising bearer of hope so special, we describe to you in our detailed play report:
Crossfire: Legion:
Real-time strategy like you’ve been wanting for years
- Hardspace: Shipbreaker: In the scrap simulator with a space setting and grandiose optics, you disassemble crashed spaceships in zero gravity and enjoy the fact that everything is floating around in a physically correct way. After almost two years in Early Access, the anti-development game is now celebrating its full release with the final act of the campaign and numerous improvements. The title is also included in Microsoft’s Game Pass.
- Voodoo Detective: In the rather unknown small point&click-adventure you explore hand-drawn backgrounds as a private investigator and maneuver your way through intrigues and lots of slapstick. The developers are openly emulating the great role model Monkey Island and, in addition to its composer Peter McConnell, have also brought some well-known speakers from Bioware and Bethesda hits such as Mass Effect and Fallout on board.
In case you haven’t heard it yet: the original is coming back soon too!
Return to Monkey Island:
Legendary game series will be surprisingly continued in 2022
Wednesday, May 25, 2022:
- Forgotten Fables: Wolves on the Westwind: The Visual Novel sends you as one of two playable characters through northern Aventuria to defeat an awakening ancient evil. It is a rare representative of the PC games set in the universe of the Europe pen and paper template The Dark Eye. It’s not a perfect game, but it’s a step in the right direction as far as DSA implementations go.
- Roller Champions: The casual multiplayer fun takes the sporting competitions to rollerblades in a Rocket League style. In the Free2Play title from Ubisoft, two teams of three compete against each other and sometimes jostle each other out of the arena when chasing the ball.

- Unexplored 2: The Wayfarer’s Legacy: In the surreal-looking action role-playing game, your characters may only have one life each, but when your next hero enters the fantasy world a few years later, you’ll feel the effects of the actions of your predecessor . Since everything is dynamically generated, no playthrough will resemble the previous one.
