The Christmas season is here, and with it the opportunity to send warm greetings to family and friends. But let's be honest – who wants to send the same picture as last year again? If you want to shine with personal greeting images on WhatsApp this year, we have a tip for you: Canva, a simple online tool that you can use to create an Advent greeting, for example.
You can use Canva either as a smartphone app or on your computer in a web browser. Here we explain how you can easily create your own Christmas pictures using the app on your cell phone. But Canva is not only very practical for Christmas greetings, you can also use the web application for presentations at school or university, applications, invitations or social media posts.

Create greeting images on your smartphone
First you need the Canva app, which you can easily download from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. You then have to register for free in just a few steps to get started.
If you are logged in successfully, the homepage opens. Here you can, for example, enter “Advent” in the search line and find ready-made designs.
Some images are marked “Pro” and are only available with a subscription. You can select all others and edit them individually. Once you have found a template that you like, you can simply open it with a tap.
Now you're in editing mode and you can start getting creative. In the bottom bar you will find the option to insert new elements such as your own images, text or graphics. If you are not satisfied, you can change your template again using the “Design” button.
For example, if you tap a block of text or another element, a bar will open at the bottom. Here you can edit the text or style of the element.
To reposition elements, you can hold down on them and simply drag them to a different position. If you hold and drag the points at the corners, the size of the element changes.
You can delete items by clicking on the small trash can.
If you want to close the editing mode for an element, all you have to do is click on the small cross at the bottom right. This is how it works with all inserted elements.
Don't worry if you made a small mistake. The arrows are good for this, with which you can jump back or forward a step.
When you're done, you can download the image using the arrow in the top right corner and save it to your gallery.
If you want to start again, you can return to the homepage by tapping on the three lines at the top left.
Then you tap on the Canva lettering. You should then end up back on the home screen.
As you can see, the app is pretty simple. You can't break anything, so the best tip is: try it out! Add some of your own lettering and choose suitable stickers. Maybe you also have nice photos that will brighten the day of your friends or family.
