The long development time of the sequel Darkest Dungeon II is slowly but surely coming to an end! Now the specific release date is fixed – at least for the PC.
Red Hook Studios has taken significant steps forward with their turn-based road trip RPG Darkest Dungeon II and is now about to release the full version. On the PC, the sequel will finally leave Early Access in a few months.
Version 1.0 should therefore start on May 8, 2023 on the PC; the release then takes place on both Epic as well as Steam. A free demo is already being made available to the public through both distribution channels for the duration of the Steam Next Fest.
The trial version allows you to guide the four starting heroes through an entire region where they must contend with various enemy factions and the challenges of survival. You will be able to explore either Sprawl (town) or Foetor (farms). The game progress between the expeditions is not saved.
The later full version of the title will feature a dozen playable heroes, five full regions, five final bosses, and a metagame hub with extensive, permanent upgrades.
Darkest Dungeon II was launched in Early Access in October 2021 and has been continuously updated with new content since then. It’s the sequel to the highly acclaimed Darkest Dungeon, whose concept has been expanded without neglecting the formula of the original game.
