I stopped playing Dead by Daylight less than a year ago. It’s unbelievable every time new characters appear, and those new characters keep appearing. behavioral interaction Seems to have finally taken this into account to a certain extent The latest overhaul to the game progression system.
Behaviour Interactive is no stranger to these overhauls, and has previously spent a lot of time determining whether skill-based matchmaking or matchmaking ratings are the better matchmaking systems for the game. Recently, the team changed the way rankings work in the game after fully integrating SBMM: rankings are obsolete, replaced by ranks. I’m still not entirely sure how they work.
Arguably the main problem that’s prevalent in Dead by Daylight right now is how long it takes to level up the characters and collect all the perks for them. After a s ingle character reaches level 40, their signature perks are unlocked in other characters’ bloodwebs (a perk tree, so to speak). Players should somehow do this for the game’s 31 survivors and 28 killers, both of which have over 200 perks to unlock. After 400 hours, I managed to level up most of my Survivor characters to the max level, but that doesn’t include prestige them or getting all the perks for them.
When characters reach their maximum level of 50, you can choose to prestige them. This will completely strip them of all tools and privileges, giving you a blank character to start over. You can up to triple reputation for a character and get a piece of bloody gear for it. Frankly, I never saw the point of prestige for a character and it felt like a waste of my time.
In the latest overhaul to Dead by Daylight’s progression system, which the team shared via Behaviour Interactive’s developer update, the team acknowledged how important collecting perks are for some players, and how long that might take.
TLDR: Overhaul progress system π©Έβ¬οΈ
π Reputing a character for the first time will unlock their Tier 1 perks to all characters, making them instantly usable. Prestige/Tier 2 is the same as Tier 3.

“In order to unlock all the new perks for each character when the next chapter releases, you’ll need an estimated average of 4.1 hours of play per day. With this new system, that estimate is reduced to an average of 1.01 hours per day — and that’s not even taking into account players from Bloodpoint rewards for events, benefits or products.”
This makes this overhaul the biggest change to Dead by Daylight to date, reducing the amount of time players need to put into the game to level up their characters and collect all the perks. Previously, players had to level up their character to level 40 to unlock all teachable perks, and then you couldn’t guarantee when those perks would be unlocked for other survivors.
With this overhaul, currently only available in public beta testing, perks are directly tied to character prestige. “Adding prestige to a character f or the first time will instantly unlock tier 1 versions of their unique perks for all other killers or survivors, making them instantly available without having to open the blood web,” Behavior Interactive explained.
“Second and third prestige characters will unlock tier 2 and 3 versions of their unique perks. Or, once the first tier is unlocked, higher tier versions of the perks will randomly appear in the blood web.”
Now for the most popular news about the entire overhaul: Reputation with a character will no longer reset them. They will keep all perks, items, add-ons, products, etc. With this in mind, further prestige levels from 4 to 9 have been introduced, all of which provide their own rewards when reached.
With work on the perks, it might be time for me to go back to Dead by Daylight. What do you think of the recent overhaul? If you’re rejoining soon, don’t forget to insert these Bloodpoint codes!
