Dambuster Studios has announced the long-awaited sequel to the zombie slaying, Dead Isl and 2
The game will now be in the Friday, April 21 Originally scheduled for February, it was postponed to April 28.
Announced last year, the game is set in Los Angeles, a city that has become a zombie-infested hell.
In the sequel, a deadly virus spreads across Los Angeles, turning its residents into zombies. The city is under quarantine and the army has retreated. You’ve been bitten and infected, but you appear to be more than immune, as you also develop strange powers.
Only you and others who are resistant to the pathogen can save the world.
Dead Island 2 features six playable characters, each with unique personalities and dialogue. You can fully customize each Killer’s abilities using the all-new skills system, letting you instantly reassign to try out some crazy builds.
Dambuster promises that the game includes “the most advanced dismemberment system in a game,” and that the zombies look and react realistically. There are dozens of different zombie types, each with specific mutations, attacks, and hundreds of Los Angeles-themed visual variants.
The game also features a co-op mode for up to three players.
As far as its release goes, it’s been a long road. Announced in 2014, Dead Island 2 had a difficult development period due to multiple studio changes.
Development was initially helmed by Yager in 2012, but the studio was replaced by Sumo Digital in 2015. The studio was also removed from the project in 2019, before handing over to Deep Silver’s in-house studio, Dambuster.
Dead Island 2 has gone gold and will be available exclusively on the Epic Games Store on PlayStation and Xbox systems, as well as PC.
Ahead of launch, the studio will show off more gameplay and a trailer to help scratch your itch.
