The disputes between game manufacturers and cheat factories often go to court. In the case of Destiny 2, Bungie was able to record a success and a cheat manufacturer now has to pay a lot.
The fight against cheat manufacturers is often fought in court and then things can get really bitter. In the case of Destiny 2, Bungie has now achieved success, cheat manufacturer Elite Boss Tech is allowed to pay heavily.
The two companies have agreed to pay Bungie $13.5 million in damages in an ongoing legal battle. Elite Boss Tech accepted the allegation of violating Bungie’s Terms of Service. In return, Bungie waives further claims. Elite Boss Tech also pledged not to produce any more cheat software for Bungie titles.
Bungie had justified the claims by damaging the reputation of the game by interfering with the player experience. The injunction is binding worldwide, so Elite Boss Tech would not have the opportunity to violate it, even if it was based abroad.
The total of $13.5 million is calculated from the number of downloads of Elite Boss Tech’s cheat software – a total of 6,765 downloads, each of which has now been fined $2,000.
