Lightfall, the next major expansion for Destiny 2, will start in February, and Bungie has already announced that there will be a group search tool – but not at launch.
Lightfall will be the third chapter in Destiny 2’s ongoing saga ahead of the grand finale in 2024, and the developers already announced exciting features at the last showcase. One of them, the long-awaited group search tool for activities, will not be available for launch in February, as Bungie has now confirmed.
Instead, the developers hope to complete the group search features by the time of the first free raid. Experience has shown that these raids appear about half a year after the extensions, i.e. probably in August.
Game Director Joe Blackburn clarifies that it is important for Bungie to bring the features into the game before The Final Shape (the fourth expansion planned for 2024). The free raid would be a good time to tune and tweak the raid and dungeon systems leading up to the launch of The Final Shape. In any case, you don’t want to knock out the features before they’re really finished.
The party search features are just a part of the new elements that aim to make life a little easier for players. Among other things, a mod and loadout manager is planned, a feature that fans have been waiting for for what feels like an eternity. A new system of Guardian Ranks is also planned, which will encourage players with Commendations to help others.
