A disturbing new bug has appeared in the Xbox Series X/S version of Destiny 2: Lightfall, preventing players from launching the game right when the new expansion is coming.
Bungie is aware of this issue and is working on it. In the meantime, there’s a way of working, and we’ve written this guide on the Destiny 2: Lightfall not launching on XBox error, and how to fix it.
Destiny 2 Lightfall Not Launching on Xbox – How to Fix
The source of the problem is old content, which prevents Destiny 2: Lightfall from launching when installed. Therefore, we must uninstall some old Destiny 2 content, at which point the game should launch normally.
You should be able to re-download them at a later date once the bugs are fully fixed. Hope the new Lightfall content keeps you entertained for a while.
First, you’ll need to head to Destiny 2’s DLC menu. To get there, follow these steps:
- If Destiny 2 is running, close it
- Hover over Destiny 2 on the console’s main menu
- press the menu button
- Select “Manage games and add-ons”
- Choose Destiny 2
You should now see a full list of all available DLC, and whether it’s installed or not. The DLCs you installed should be highlighted, so we’ll unhighlight some of them.
The DLCs you need to uninstall are:
- Destiny 2: Forsaken – Black Armory
- Destiny 2: Forsaken – Joker’s Wild
- Destiny 2: Forsaken – Penumbra
- Destiny 2 Forsaken – Annual Pass
- Expansion Pack I: The Curse of Osiris
- Expansion Pack II: Warmind
Once all of these are deselected, select “Save Changes” and wait for them all to uninstall. Once done, start Destiny 2 and the game should start fine!
