Battlefield 2042 has not allowed a lot of destruction, which should now change with the next part.
Since players in Bad Company were able to put the whole map in ruins, the ambient destruction has been an absolute trademark from Battlefield. In 2042 (not only in this regard), however, some veterans disappointed. With the seventh part of the shooter series, however, hardly any wall should be safe.
So that Battlefield 7 does not provide any bad surprises, DICE is currently quite open in development and keeps fans up to date with community updates. In the course of this, there is now new information on how the destruction will take place.
On Reddit, the makers not only spoke about their design philosophy for the destruction, but also published a short example clip:

We now know about the destruction
What can be destroyed? Apparently there will be non-destructable objects in Battlefield 7, so you cannot flatten the entire map. The developers are currently working on how to recognize whether the environment is now destroyed or not.
How can something be destroyed? That depends on the material of the object. Large explosions naturally cause considerable damage, but even small projectiles can contribute to decay. Before a wall or something similar crashes together, the first cracks and other damage can also be seen.
Different surface types are now visually degraded before they collapse through continuing surface damage. Buildings have a core, similar to an apple. When buildings start to collapse, their core is exposed, while destroyed parts of rubble and rubble are generated on the floor.
This can be seen in the clip: the outer wall is destroyed, while the core remains. The player can enter the building directly via the rubble and find a way.
That also leads the same To the advantages that the destruction offers – Apart from the fact that it looks cool. The tactical component should not be neglected.
So the rubble remains that can offer additional cover. But of course new, potentially shorter paths are also created in buildings that can offer an advantage. Surprising and flanking opponents will certainly be easier.

Fans are optimistic
Many Battlefield players have not forgotten the last offshoot and keep a certain portion of skepticism. But still: Even the most critical fans apparently admit that the previous information and gameplay snippets look good.
So writes SHARTEM1S:
“This is a really good sign. 2042 had zero transparency, so we didn't even have the chance to tell them that everything is crap. The fact that the feedback from the community is now being caught up and how you want to install it has definitely brought me back close to the hype level between BF3, BF4 and BF1.
Because of the last two bad BF titles, I am not quite on board. But now I am definitely closer to optimism than in pessimism. “
Capt_Kilgore I want to make sure that the whole map was not broke in a few minutes:
Does not make the destruction too easy or simple. Give some time and several shots/explosions to the stone walls before they collapse completely. […] But I love what I've seen so far.
Hotel_Coffee is much shorter, but no less meaningful: Yes, yes and more yes.
When exactly Battlefield 7 appears – and whether it will be Battlefield 7 at all – it is not yet clear. The shooter will probably appear between the end of 2025 and early 2026, but there is no official release yet. A somewhat later start would be conceivable so as not to appear at the same time as GTA 6. However, it is also rumored by a shift, which would have bad consequences for other studios. More on this in the article above.
