The controversial survival hope The Day Before only recently disappeared from Steam, and a release postponement was announced shortly afterwards. The official reasons given by the developer Fntastic for this are becoming more and more obscure and contradictory.

After the studio behind games like Propnight first communicated that a trademark dispute was responsible for the launch eight months later, is now being backtracked. Across from IGN announces Fntastic: The move was planned before the Steam debacle and should have been communicated in the course of the gameplay release originally planned for January 2023.
What happened again? The Day Before should have been released on March 1, 2023 after its first postponement. A few days ago, however, the Fntastic title disappeared from Steam after previously being one of the most wanted games on the Valve platform.
Originally, Fntastic stated that this was a bug on Steam. However, an official statement followed later Twitterthat a trademark dispute over the game title The Day Before
was decisive for this and the release was postponed to November 10, 2023.
Now, in a conversation with IGN, Fntastic communicates that the launch postponement of The Day Before was already planned. The decision would have been shared with the public in the gameplay video promised for January, after its original announcement had already caused criticism and ridicule.

The Day Before is already controversial. After the first trailers promised a beautiful mix of The Last of Us, The Division and DayZ, the hype train picked up speed. In the meantime, however, more and more game fans are doubting the authenticity of The Day Before or at least that Fntastic can handle such an ambitious project at all.
The developer’s previous games weren’t nearly as excessive in terms of their claims, and were quickly dropped after Fntastic was released. There is also criticism for the studio’s mixed communication and that unpaid volunteers

Fntastic also commented on this in an interview with IGN:
The waves will smooth out again over time. Once the game comes out, people will see the truth. Until we arrive, we are grateful for the fantastic journey there and that you are with us. […]
We understand that some players who don’t see the bigger picture have their doubts about the game. From the very beginning, our focus has been on the product itself. We’ve been working on the game for four years already. All these years we have expended sweat and blood making this game and for many members of our team it is not pleasant to hear these allegations. We didn’t take a dime from people: there’s no crowdfunding, no pre-orders, no donations. The game is fully funded by Mytona, one of the largest publishers in the world [unseren Fortschritt regelmäßig überprüfen]. […]
We believe in our final product. No matter what anyone says, you’ll see for yourself on November 10th. We hope that after the success of the game, people will believe that if they pursue a dream in this life, it will come true – regardless of the obstacles and doubts.
