Diablo 3 had a difficult time with the fans from the start. The look was too colorful for many players and the skill system was too simplified. Veterans longed for the rough virtues of the predecessor. And Blizzard recently admitted they made a few mistakes with Diablo 3.
With a view of the approaching Diablo 4 and Diablo 2: Resurrected, it was to be assumed that Blizzard was slowly but surely building some distance to the third series part. Very few would have expected a profound update for Diablo 3. But this is how it should come now: On February 25th, the big update 2.7.0 for season 23 will appear on the test servers. And this patch has it all.
Especially with: Season 23 does not have a thematic motto, instead the changes remain after the season. The planned revisions will change Diablo 3 permanently.
Companions become more useful
Perhaps the biggest game changer in this update gives the companion NPCs a lot more power. So the change is primarily aimed at Solo player, since AI-controlled villains, templars and enchantresses play no role in multiplayer matches.
Instead of just offering combat support as before, you are now putting on pieces of armor for the NPCs. Some legendary buffs and set effects that are created by benefit your character. This allows you to expand your builds in completely new and varied ways, even beyond the items that you carry in Kanai’s cube. And that wasn’t all in the NPC fresh cell treatment.

This is how the companions worked for the release
Companions are expanded
In order to make the villain, the templar and the enchantress in Diablo 3 more powerful, Blizzard is revising the previous skills, adding new ones and throwing old ones overboard. With the colleagues from MeinMMO you can read all the details about this.
Further changes
More filter options for the solo ranking: Another change is aimed at single players of Diablo 3. With the extended options you can now filter, for example, by class sets that have been worn. This makes it easier for you to see which players were successful with which equipment.
Balance changes: With Update 2.7.0, the wizard, demon hunter, and necromancer in Diablo 3 will be rebalanced. Specifically, it hit the sets Rathma, Gear of Terror and Firebird. You can read all changes on the official website.
Blizzard doesn’t seem to want to put Diablo 3 to sleep as slowly as many people thought. And that, of all things, after more details about Diablo 4 were recently revealed at Blizzcon, while Diablo 3 was not mentioned.
