You know the new season of Diablo 4 is almost here because Blizzard starts organizing developer livestreams and publishing tons of blog posts about the new content, and this time there doesn’t seem to be much.
The game’s Season 4 has officially been named “Loot Reborn,” which ties into the fact that the upcoming season will introduce the game’s biggest loot overhaul since launch. Blizzard has more to offer at this point than you might think in the season synopsis, which is a bit concerning.

Season 4: Loot Reborn As promised, it starts on Tuesday, May 14th.it goes live on 10am PT, 1pm ET, 6pm UKas well as a new battle pass and an all-new season journey – just like every season before it.
The seasonal theme this time around isn’t vicious, cool and exciting vampire powers, or even the impressive RoboMaster robot. No, the theme is just… better loot. If you haven’t been following Diablo 4 news, you might be a little confused.
A few weeks ago, Diablo 4 hosted its first (Open Test Realm) PTR, which included a set of gameplay changes so huge and far-reaching that Blizzard delayed the new season by a month to allow enough time. Test and release. Gather feedback. All of these loot and item tweaks are meant to be available to everyone in Season 4, but it’s assumed that these (very welcome) tweaks will be part of the season rather than the entire point.
However, loot reform seems yes All episodes of Season 4. Blizzard has now confirmed that the upcoming season will be called “Loot Reborn.” In fact, the developers spent so little on the story and theme in the announcement blog post that you might not even realize it’s a new season.
The closest we get to new narrative content is the return of the Iron Wolves, the famous mercenary company from Diablo 2 and Diablo 3. Iron Wolves’ existence was actually datamined during the PTR’s run, but everyone assumed there was more to come. It’s not just about seeing them in Diablo 4.
The new NPC for Season 4 is Anvil Sood, who will guide you on your quest to investigate the mysterious circumstances surrounding the deaths of Iron Wolf members. As revealed in datamining, participating in Iron Wolves activities and missions themselves will earn you favor, which is Season 4’s new XP tag.
Seasonal quests are also tied to a greater focus on better loot, as some of your rewards will include tempering manuals to use with the weapons and gear you’ll find. Interestingly, the Iron Wolf event – which you can find in Hell’s Tides – will continue after the season ends, suggesting that the Iron Wolf may be here to stay and become part of a bigger game in the future.
That’s it! The rest of the blog post reiterates the new crafting system, item changes, and the more rewarding Hell Tide event. This is nothing new to anyone who has ever taken a test, or is even aware of it.
There’s still a chance that tomorrow’s Developer Update livestream will bring us more details about Season 4 that weren’t mentioned in this blog post, and we certainly hope it does more than just help the Iron Wolves and enjoy the improved loot mechanics, especially Season 3 was underwhelming.
