At the end of the second quarter of the year, Blizzard published an extensive update on the development work on Diablo 4. The action role-playing game is currently set to appear in 2022 and will make long-time series connoisseurs happy as well as attract new fans.
The blog entry devotes itself in great detail to the game’s numerous character models. No matter if NPC, hero or hell monster – they should all be highly detailed so that they can withstand the critical look at close range.

Diablo 4 could lead the series to old strength.
New look at barbarians, hunters and an old friend
In addition to the impressive level of detail, the special thing about the images shown is the announcement that players will be playing their Customize characters extensively for the first time
You can also dye your armor. You have the choice of whether each piece of armor is given its own color or the same palette is placed over the entire set. That should provide enough variety so that you don’t stumble across clones so often in multiplayer games.
What immediately catches the eye when you look at the character models shown is the high level of detail compared to Diablo 3. The developers show a barbarian whose armor shows fine scratches and other small things. This also applies to the hunter and the sorceress. Everywhere the eye can discover new details.
There is also a first foretaste of the elaborate animations. A barbarian and a hunter show you in slow motion what is going on in their repertoire of movements.
An old friend also shows up: Lilith! The daughter of the Hell Lord Mephisto will likely play a bigger role in Diablo 4. Reason enough for the developers to show their characters up close. The impressive thing: It should be an in-game cinematic. This level of detail should be the standard for important NPCs, heroes and monsters in Diablo 4.
The monsters convince with their disgust
There is also praise for the monstrous creatures: because they just look disgusting! Exactly as you would like the minions of hell to be. Among other things, first impressions of the Blood Bishop, the Skeleton Lord and a spider-like creature that walks on two legs will be shown. In addition, a succubus shows itself in full splendor.
The look is getting darker again
What is already noticeable when looking at the numerous models: Diablo 4 will use a much more desaturated color palette than its predecessor. We remember: Diablo 3 was simply too colorful for many fans. A particular challenge in designing the game world was to find a good compromise between realistic representation and a dark fantasy look.
