Diablo 4 will be in June 4, which is only a few weeks away. With the game nearing its release, the team behind Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo 4 has shared some details about what players can expect from post-launch content.
The post-launch content plan for Diablo 4 will begin in July, when four seasons will be introduced. Seasons will be quarterly updates for Diablo 4, introducing “fresh concepts and ideas to the world of Sanctuary.”
The developers say they intend to make the season a time for players to celebrate; “something to look forward to and enjoy with your friends.” The season will include a new questline for players to embark on. As you progress through your Seasonal Journey, you’ll earn various rewards and boons so you’ll be able to further upgrade your Battle Pass.
There aren’t any further details on what exactly these seasons will include, but we do know that when the first season arrives in July, you’ll need to complete the Diablo IV campaign first.
Of course, each season comes with its own battle pass, consisting of 27 free tiers and 63 premium tiers. From this, players can earn decorations and smoldering embers, which can be used in Seasonal Blessings to give you some nifty rewards. Items that can net you extra rewards, like smoldering embers, are only available in the free Battle Pass, lest your fears of “paying to win” come true.
Last but not least, Diablo 4 will have a store. Likewise, until your fear of “paying to win” subsides, only buy cosmetics with real-world money at the store. Blizzard also assures its players that these cosmetic items are for aesthetics only, are intended f or player self-expression, and do not provide anything that affects player stats or abilities.
So, Diablo 4 is becoming the AAA game we expected for live services. Seasons and Battle Passes give players a reason to keep coming back, while hopefully not repeating the same mistakes Diablo Immortal made last year, pissing off fans.
