During last night’s Season of Construct developer livestream, Blizzard took a deep dive into how to make the upcoming season of Diablo 4 more rewarding. Developers are addressing multiple areas that players have never really been satisfied with, such as Blizzard’s own goals. In other words, the completion rate is very low.

The Season Journey in Diablo 4 is tied to Battle Pass progression, but it’s also completely separate as it has its own progression track, with its own chapters, objectives, and unique rewards. Some of these rewards will definitely feed back into the battle pass, but it’s best to think of it as a journey throughout the season.
Diablo 4’s third season is Season of Constructs, and Blizzard revealed how it’s using data and player feedback from previous seasons to make this season even better. For starters, progressing through the Season Journey will earn you more Management/Tweak Stones needed to customize new companions, effectively giving you a little boost if you decide to prioritize clearing those chapters.
In terms of rewards, the Champion, Slayer, and Destroyer chapters now reward Ancestral Legends, including some items that drop at 925 power. Badges were an overlooked aspect of character customization in Diablo 4, and are now part of the Season Journey and Battle Pass itself.
Seasonal questlines will also no longer just pause until you complete certain seasonal journey objectives, or reach certain milestones, which always felt like artificial padding of the questline’s running time.
The biggest change, however, is the de-emphasis on PvP objectives during the season journey, which is the right decision. Blizzard hasn’t stated how PvP objectives are changing, but anyone who doesn’t care about PvP in Diablo 4 (like myself) should no longer feel forced to fight other players to clear these chapter objectives.
In case you missed it, here’s a quality of life update for the new season, which includes the arrival of WASD sports.
