The new update 2.5 for Diablo II: Ressurrected can now be tried out on the Public Test Realm, PTR for short – and that also brings a new feature with the so-called “terrorist zones”.
Before the new patch 2.5 hits the Diablo II: Ressurrected live servers, it can now be tried out on the Public Test Realm (PTR). Also included is a new experimental feature called Terror Zones.
This is an optional new feature designed to provide you with a new path to level 99 during each season. Each hour, the armies of the Burning Hells devote themselves to one area. This will increase the level and power of all monsters in that area, which should encourage you to hunt in the different areas of Sanctuary.
In order to reach level 99, Blizzard would like to bring an alternative with the feature than constantly competing against Baal, Diablo and Nihlathak. In addition, the path to level 99 should be open to a larger number of players, offer variety and pose a challenge. The terror zones are intended to remedy this, but they remain really optional for the time being.
If you are playing a game with Terror Zones enabled, the armies of the Burning Hells will focus their demonic power on specific areas and terrorize them every hour. The monsters in these zones are at least two levels higher than your current level or their original level, up to a certain maximum depending on the difficulty level. The experience and loot gained from killing such a monster will then be based on that new level. In addition, monsters in the Terror Zones also provide additional experience points.
Here are the details of the levels of each monster type according to difficulty:
Normal
- Base: +2 levels, up to level 45
- Champion: +4 levels, up to level 47
- Unique: +5 levels, up to level 48
nightmare
- Base: +2 levels, up to level 71
- Champion: +4 levels, up to level 73
- Unique: +5 levels, up to level 74
hell
- Base: +2 levels, up to level 96
- Champion: +4 levels, up to level 98
- Unique: +5 levels, up to level 99
The base player level used for these calculations is that of the player creator. If this leaves the game, a new player is chosen for the base value. If you enter a game with Terror Zones enabled, a message in the chat window will inform you of the currently terrorized areas. When it’s time to change terrorized zones, you’ll be notified of the upcoming changes via the chat window.
Further details on the subject and all other changes in the update to version 2.5 can be found in the corresponding blog entry on the official website.
