The developer studio DICE is known to many of you, also because it is responsible for the famous shooter series Battlefield, for example. A daughter of the studio in Los Angeles has so far only been supporting this, but that is about to change.
Around the turn of the year was now in an interview with the renowned LA Times confirms that the supporting developer studio DICE LA, a sister of the well-known main studio DICE in Sweden, will play a bigger role in the future. In the course of this, Vince Zampella, founder of the Respawn Entertainment studio known for Apex Legends and Titanfall, will take over the management of DICE LA in the future.
In the past, DICE LA had mainly contributed content or designs to DICE's most important brands, but had not yet made an independent appearance in this regard. Now the sister company of the Sweden studio should step out of its shadow.
The studio will experience a rebranding under the direction of Zampella. In addition, the new studio manager is to significantly expand the development team so that he can then work on a previously unannounced project for Publisher EA. Noteworthy: Despite the role of Zampella, DICE LA should not only operate independently from DICE, but also from Respawn Entertainment.
"We want to give the studio a new image. We want people to say, 'This is a goal that you can go to and create new content," said Zampella. Laura Miele, EA's chief studios office, added that the studio should in fact "create a new game independently". What it will be, however, is still unclear.
Respawn and EA have now announced a highly endowed eSports tournament around Apex Legends.
