For many Star Wars fans, episode 9 was not the end of the Skywalker saga they wanted. With many decisions that director J.J. Having met Abrams for old and new characters, fans were far from happy.
Disney seems to be aware of this criticism. Because in the novel of The Rise of Skywalker numerous ambiguities – such as how Emperor Palpatine survived his fall into the shaft of the Death Star in Episode 6 – are erased, but even undo controversial decisions.
Such as a very specific twist that is about Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) turns. Rey / Kylo Ren scene split the fan base
In the finale of Star Wars: Episode 9, face off Rey and Kylo Renwho returned as Ben Solo to the bright side of power, the clone of Darth Sidious. However, Rey is so badly injured in the fight that Ben has to use force to bring her back from the dead. However, this costs the son of Han Solo and Leia Organa so much strength that he gives his own life to revive Rey.
And when Rey wakes up in the arms of Ben Solo, there is a kiss between the two – which caused a lot of fans in great turmoil: Many viewers felt a romance for Rey and Kylo Ren forced and hastily squeezed into the last moments of the film.
Even stubborn "Reylo"Supporters would have liked a different resolution, or at least more time around space to give a potential friendship more air to breathe. How the scene in Episode 9 ultimately played out felt much more like a bone to these war-star followers that was held up in front of them.
To make matters worse, numerous fans were particularly bothered by the fact that Rey had obviously fallen in love with a mass murderer who has countless lives on his conscience and even murdered his own father. In your opinion, this was exactly the wrong messagewho have favourited J.J. Abrams could send to the audience and especially younger viewers.
Reylo's romance wasn't romantic
And this is exactly where Disney is now backtracking: The official novel version of Star Wars: Episode 9 now indicates that the kiss between Rey and Ben Solo

According to the novel about The Rise of Skywalker, there was a connection between Rey and Kylo Ren – however not a romantic one. And apparently, it is common in the Star Wars universe to express your gratitude with a kiss.
Can Star Wars fans reconcile with Episode 9? Hardly likely. The short kiss between Kylo Ren and Rey is far from the only controversy that plagues Skywalker's rise.
