The latest adventure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has finally arrived on Disney+: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Logically, there are two more post-credits scenes at the end that hint at future Marvel projects. “Doctor Strange 2” opens up numerous possibilities for the future!

Doctor Strange 2: What happened in the movie?

The plot of “Doctor Strange 2” is relatively simple. Corrupted by the magical book Darkhold, Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) is on a hunt for America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez), who has the ability to travel through different universes of the multiverse. In order to find her children (see “WandaVision”) from other universes, Wanda wants to incorporate America’s powers.

Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumebrbatch) and Wong (Benedict Wong) can’t let that happen and protect America. Strange and America have to flee to other universes. Even the mighty Illuminati, consisting of Professor X (Patrick Stewart), Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), Mr. Fantastic (John Krasinski), Captain Marvel (Lashana Lynch), Black Bolt (Anson Mount) and Captain Carter (Hayley Atwell) can Don’t protect America.

In no time at all, Wanda has defeated the seemingly powerful superheroes and can continue her hunt for America. She gets hold of America and banishes Strange to an alien universe. There, Strange finds another version of the Darkhold of another universe.

He uses the Force to bring a corpse of Doctor Strange to life and control it remotely. The Zombie Stranger finds Wanda and can help America use her strength in a targeted manner. She does so promptly and lets the bloodthirsty Scarlet Witch meet her children from another universe.

When Wanda’s children see the witch Wanda has become, they are scared. Wanda realizes what a monster she has become. She wanted her children back and instead she repelled and scared her children. Realizing her mistakes, she eventually sacrifices herself to destroy the Darkhold and every Darkhold in every universe.

America ultimately remains in our universe and is taught in Kamar-Taj. Wong asks Strange if he’s okay, after all he used the Darkhold. Strange thinks everything is fine, but suddenly a third eye opens on his forehead. End!

Doctor Strange 2: Who are the Illuminati?

In the Marvel Comics, the Illuminati are a think tank, a coalition of the most intelligent Avengers. In “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” it is a version of the Avengers from another universe. The Illuminati are aware of the danger of the multiverse and have researched it well.

Patrick Stewart’s Professor X is not the same as the one we know from the “X-Men” movies. Hayley Atwell’s Captain Carter also seems to be a different variant than the one from “What If…?” to be. “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” star Anson Mount had previously played a different variant of Black Bolt in the unpopular Marvel series “Inhumans”.

Since all of the Illuminati were killed by Wanda, they will not return in this form. But there are certainly other Illuminati in the multiverse that may one day emerge.

Doctor Strange 2: Will John Krasinski Return As Mr. Fantastic?

John Krasinski has long been a dream cast for Mr. Fantastic, the leader of the Fantastic Four, in fan circles. With a Fantastic Four movie already announced, it’s possible Krasinski will reprise the role. However, as the actor-director has a busy schedule, that remains to be seen.

At the end of the film, Wanda is given an impressive ending. She sacrifices herself and buries the Darkhold and Scarlet Witch. In doing so, she takes a dangerous factor out of the multiverse. But is she really dead? Yes, the Wanda we know and love is dead.

Due to the vastness of the multiverse, however, one can expect Elizabeth Olsen to return sooner or later. Other variants of Wanda are still out there, populating other universes, after all.

America is being trained as a sorceress in Kamar-Taj. It’s unclear which Marvel project she’ll appear in next. With the multiverse playing an important role in the future and she being the only known person who can travel through it, she’s bound to become important.

Doctor Strange 2: what does the third eye mean?

What can be seen as a bad omen is actually a good sign. At the end of the film, Doctor Strange gains a third eye on his forehead. In the Marvel Comics, this appears when Strange uses the Eye of Agamotto.

The Eye of Agamotto can only be used for white magic and does not respond to dark magic. However, why the evil Strange variant had the third eye is unclear. It’s entirely possible that the MCU will break away from the comics.
