A new cutscene from Doctor Strange 2 proves the movie could have been gory. Wanda beats Kamar Taja soldiers on video.
Doctor Strange 2 hit theaters in May 2022 and was a box office hit. However, some parents were outraged that the film was not suitable for young audiences, although it is not recommended for children under the age of 10. But Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness could have gone further, the proof with a new scene that was cut.
A very gory deleted scene for Doctor Strange 2
Like many other films, Doctor Strange 2 had to make concessions. In order to maintain his -10 rating, and particularly his PG-13, across the Atlantic, Sam Raimi and his teams were forced to reconsider some of their plans. Originally, the sequel to Steven Strange’s adventures could have been bloodier than what we’ve seen so far. A new deleted action scene actually shows us a completely different version of Wanda’s fight against the Kamar Taja soldiers and it’s anything but familyfriendly
This sequence, produced by the stuntmen, was accompanied by some special effects to give body to the whole, not forgetting the camera angles specific to Sam Raimi. We see a more frontal Wanda going into battle to shamelessly behead and kill soldiers, forcing them to kill each other before smashing their heads and dismembering them. It sure isn’t very PG-13 anymore, but the staging and combat are very classy.
Special effects supervisor Erik Winquist previously revealed that he wanted to make Doctor Strange Zombie bloodier, even including a scene where he throws his dismembered arm at Scarlet Witch in order to strangle her. This also didn’t make it to the final cut as Disney wants MCU films to remain family-friendly.
