The curtain has fallen, Dragon Age 4 has revealed new information. For example, that the role-playing game is not called Dragon Age 4, but rather Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. Also, we got our first glimpse of the official logo and, more importantly, there’s news about the release. We summarize everything important and tell you below what the title already reveals about the story and setting.
This is new to Dragon Age: Dreadwolf
To the title: So the official name is Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. As with Inquisition, there is no number in the title and there is definitely a specific intention behind it. But more on that below.
About the release: Fans have to be very brave here, the prick will pass quickly – Dreadwolf will definitely not be released in 2022. That would have been a very optimistic expectation anyway, but EA should now bring even the most hopeful among you down to earth with this clear announcement to have. There is no precise period, but 2023 could be realistic. We’ll let you know as soon as details become known!
About the logo: The picture is not particularly spectacular, of course we already know the font from the predecessors. What’s new is that the letters look like they’ve been carved out of ice. And the background in bright violet immediately catches the eye – of course we have an interpretation ready for that, which we reveal below in the article.
What else is new? Even if the title itself already reveals it and we’ve seen it in teasers for a long time, the developers have once again expressly confirmed that none other than Solas will be our opponent. If you’ve played Dragon Age: Inquisition, you’re now nodding your head knowingly. Everyone else can think of him as an ancient, rebellious elven god who wants to restore the world to its former state – at any cost!

Dragon Age 4: The first trailer for the RPG hope
Although the release is still a long way off, there should be a lot of concrete information about Dragon Age: Dreadwolf soon. And that in the course of 2022, as the new blog entry reveals. Gradually it’s about time for that, because leaks are already filling in a lot of information gaps.
Hidden details from the announcement
Surely some fans who have been looking forward to the next Dragon Age for years are disappointed because today only the title and logo could be seen. But there are still a few details hidden in it that only become apparent at second glance.
- Also for career changers: The reason why it’s not called Dragon Age 4 is probably because the developers don’t want to scare off newcomers. The blog also says that you can only start with this title. This in turn means that we are guaranteed to get a new main character (this has already been officially confirmed) and explore a new part of Thedas – definitely Tevinter, as we also already know. But maybe it will take us to completely different places.
- Necromancy and Blood Magic: The color of the logo also clearly refers to the setting in the Tevinter mage empire. Specifically, necromancy and other blood magic arts, such as those used by our former companion, Dorian. The color associated with it was exactly this violet.
- The Nothing: We already know from the Inquisition that Solas created the veil that separates the material world and nothingness, i.e. the world of spirits and demons. With a bit of imagination, it’s easy to interpret the logo as meaning that this boundary is beginning to crumble – which would certainly suit our former ally’s plans, and is guaranteed to wreak havoc on Thedas.
We already know a lot about the new Dragon Age from published artwork, novels and credible leaks. In our comprehensive overview you can find out, for example, whether the Gray Wardens will appear again:
