Role-players worldwide are excited to see if Bioware will get back on track with Dragon Age: Dreadwolf after Mass Effect: Andromeda and the Anthem flop. Now there is good news on the personnel side.
A lot for Bioware depends on doing a good job on Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. Recently things haven’t been going well for the former role-playing top dogs. Mass Effect: Andromeda had a sluggish reception and Anthem was a total failure. Bioware also seems to be aware of this, because apparently the developer is trying to set up a solid staff.
It has now been announced that Bioware has brought former Dragon Age Executive Producer Mark Darrah back on board. Darrah left the studio with Casey Hudson at the end of 2020. As a consultant for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, Harrah is now supposed to make sure that the game doesn’t crash.
Harrah was an early part of the studio’s roster and has worked on some notable titles in the past, including Baldur’s Gate, Shattered Steel, Neverwinter Nights and Jade Empire. He served as Executive Producer on Dragon Age Origins, later taking on responsibility for the entire series as Project Director.
Apart from that, Bioware seems to be boosting the production of the game – it is said that a large part of the Mass Effect team is now joining in to finalize Dragon Age: Dreadwolf:
“Our studio is focused on making the best Dragon Age: Dreadwolf possible while the core team at Mass Effect continues their pre-production work,” Gary McKay, BioWare’s general manager, told VentureBeat. “We continue to improve and polish Dreadwolf while focusing on the things that matter most to our fans. As we continue to connect this new experience to the legacy of the series, Mark Darrah will join the team as an advisor and bring his With years of experience working on Dragon Age, we’re proud to have this team at the helm with strong leadership working together to realize the vision we have for the game.”
Getting Darrah back must have taken some effort. After his departure, the Dragon Age producer was not necessarily positive about the development processes of his former employer. In a YouTube video, Darrah nailed it and made a pretty clear statement with the words “Bioware Magic is bullshit”.
When we will finally see results and get a first impression of what we can expect in Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is still in the stars, because EA and Bioware have not even mentioned a release period so far. The same applies to the new Mass Effect, which is apparently still simmering on a low flame in pre-production.
