Dune 2: Everything different? This is what the cast will look like in the sequel to the sci-fi blockbuster

After “Dune 2” was scheduled to appear in November 2023 and had to be postponed due to the strikes in Hollywood, viewers can look forward to the start of the second sci-fi blockbuster on March 14, 2024 in Germany. However, in the sequel to the well-known book adaptation by director Denis Villeneuve, there will be some changes in the cast.

Although the main actors such as Timothée Chalamet (“Wonka”) will return as Paul Atreides, some actors from the first part will no longer be seen. Other stars, however, appear with new characters or play larger roles. We give you an insight into what you can expect in “Dune 2”.

Zendaya as Chani

While Zendaya only played a small role in the first “Dune” film and as Chani she was almost only seen in visions of Paul, she will spend more time on the big screen in the second part of the science fiction series. Paul Atreides joins Chani and the Fremen to take revenge on his conspirators who want to destroy his family.

Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica

Rebecca Ferguson (“Mission Impossible”) will also appear in the second part of “Dune” as Lady Jessica and mother of Paul. Just like her son, she has to try to adapt to life with the Fremen and learn their customs after they had to leave their old life behind.

Josh Brolin als Gurney Halleck

Josh Brolin (“Avengers: Endgame”) returns in his role as Gurney Halleck in “Dune 2”. In the first part he was warlord of House Atreides and was always at Paul’s side as a mentor, friend and advisor. It remains to be seen what tasks he will fulfill in the second part.

Javier Bardem as Stilgar

Javier Bardem will continue to play the role of Stilgar in “Dune 2”. Among the Fermen, Stilgar is an important and leading figure in which he will guide Paul in his new life.

Stellan Skarsgård as Baron Vladimir Harkonnen

Baron Vladimir Harkonnen will also be up to mischief in the sequel to “Dune” and will be played by Stellan Skarsgård (“Chernobyl”). He will want to further strengthen House Harkonnen and promote his nephew Feyd Rautha to the Emperor’s throne.

Charlotte Rampling als Reverend Mother Mohiam

The leader of the Bene Gesserit sisterhood is still needed in “Dune” and is played by Charlotte Rampling. Paul’s mother, Lady Jessica, is also part of the sisterhood, which only includes women and has mystical abilities.

Stephen McKinley Henderson als Thufir Hawat

Actor Stephen McKinley Henderson will also appear in “Dune 2” in his role as Thufir Hawat. After he was only seen a little in part 1 and was responsible for the security of House Atreides as a Mentat, he will probably be used more in the “Dune” sequel as in the original book.

Christopher Walken als Kaiser Shaddam Corrino IV

Christopher Walken (“Severance”) will appear for the first time in the sequel to “Dune” as the previously faceless Emperor Shaddam IV, the 81st Padishah Emperor of House Corrino. As the new antagonist, he will create a lot of tension in “Dune 2” and go on the search for Paul Atreides.

Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan

Mega star Florence Pugh (“Black Widow”) will appear for the first time in “Dune 2” as his eldest daughter Irulan. She is best known for her writing on Paul Atreides.

Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen

Austin Butler (“Elvis”) is introduced as a new adversary in the role of Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen in “Dune 2” as a new character.

Lea Seydoux as Lady Margot

Lea Seydoux also plays a new role as Lady Margot. She is the wife of Count Hasimir Fenring. She will also be part of the Bene Gesserit sisterhood in “Dune 2”.

Jason Momoa als Duncan Idaho

Jason Momoa (“Game of Thrones”, “Aquaman”) will be missing from “Dune 2” because he died in part 1 and there will therefore be no reunion with him.

Oscar Isaac als Herzog Leto Atreides

There will also be no return of Oscar Isaac (“Moon Knight”) in his role as Duke Leto Atreides, Paul’s father, in “Dune 2”. The only possible options are flashbacks that could be reminiscent of his character.
