As of today, Dying Light 2 is officially available and many a player might be confused when he takes down the first human opponent. Hey, is that a severed head flying across the picture? That shouldn’t be possible, because the Europe version of the open-world action fun is cut – or is it?
As it turned out when asked by developer Techland, Dying Light 2 is on the PC the digital versions also uncut in Europey. Why why why? We’ll break that down for you now.

Let’s start with the official confirmation that the uncut Steam version is not just a technical and therefore only temporary error. Here is Techland’s response, which we translated:
Yes, we had already confirmed that and nothing has changed – the digital versions on the PC are uncut because there is no official ban in Europey. There are cut versions on the consoles.
A look at the build ID of the Europe Steam version shows that it is identical to the ID of the international edition. In the Steam database However, there are also indications of other versions of the game, so there may still be a version with reduced violence.
And what about Epic? Again, you should assume that Dying Light 2 is available in an uncut version. Basically, the following currently applies: If you have purchased a digital copy of the game, the game is also uncut in Europey – at least on the PC.

What does that mean for the future?
So if you really want to have a Europe uncut version on your PC, you have three options as of February 4, 2022: the Steam edition, a digital purchase in the Techland store and an import from Switzerland or Austria.
But does the uncut remain uncut?
In this case, Techland would also have to replace the digital versions with a cut edition. As long as there is no official reaction, you should not expect the developers to take this step of their own accord. Yet: There is no guarantee that your game will remain uncut.
