Because of the corona virus, the E3 2020 was canceled in June of this year – exactly in a year in which new consoles are to be launched on the market. But for players this could now have a very interesting and in a way also pleasant side effect.
What should please be happy about the cancellation of E3? Well, if you believe the renowned industry analyst Daniel Ahmad from Niko Partners, then players won't have to wait until mid-June or even longer until there are several interesting new announcements and corresponding game impressions. This is because the analyst strongly believes that developers and publishers may sometimes also significantly prefer the ideas originally planned for E3.
With E3 canceled, a lot of the planned reveals / announcements have been moved out of that single week.
Some are now much earlier, others much later. Some still during E3 week ofc.
The first proper next gen console / games showcase is much earlier too.

According to Ahmad, game developers may officially present their first next-gen titles for PS5 and Xbox Series X even before June, making gamers' hearts beat faster before the actual E3 period. Although the renowned expert does not go into details, some new launches can now be expected "much earlier" than the E3. There is also a drop of bitterness: Others could now also take place "much later". In short: The period in which you can expect new releases will stretch noticeably, which will allow players to track individual titles better in detail. After all, at E3 you are usually literally killed with a plethora of new titles.
A new advisor goes in a similar thematic direction VGC, which says that Sony originally planned for the full launch of the PS5 in May. At the moment, however, one is not sure whether these plans have not changed. Microsoft should now prepare a May event to present the Xbox Series X. We will keep you up to date.
