With growing concerns about the spread of coronaviruses, some wonder whether this year's E3 will be affected.
The past few weeks have caused tremendous damage to the gaming industry and the economy as a whole. After several major players, including Sony and Microsoft, withdrew from GDC 2020, event organizers were forced to postpone the GDC until the summer.
Not to mention that nothing happened at PAX East and other events other than video games. Now that the GDC will not happen later this month, the next major event on the calendar is E3.
This year's E3 is particularly disturbing because Sony skipped it and longtime supporter and founder of the E3 stadium, Geoff Keighley, also decided not to participate.
E3 organizer ESA said it was watching the situation closely, but confirmed that the 2020 E3 plan would not change.
"Everyone is watching the situation closely. We will continue to be vigilant as our top priority is the health, health and safety of all our exhibitors and attendees," ESA said in a statement to Vice Games.
"Given what we know so far, we are pushing ahead with E3 2020 planning. Exhibitions and registered sales are expected to hold exciting exhibitions in June."
Assuming nothing has changed, E3 2020 will be held from June 9 to 11, with ten publishers promising to provide support.
