As promised, last night EA Sports presented the new EA Sports FC 24 in more detail, which is known to replace the FIFA series after the end of cooperation with the world association. Apart from the name and some gameplay innovations, not too much will change in terms of content, especially with regard to the licenses.
In the last two weeks there have been a number of rumors about the new EA Sports FC 24 from Electronic Arts, which follows the previous FIFA series – and as it now turns out, these should essentially be true. This applies first and foremost to the release date, which has now been officially confirmed as September 29, 2023.
In the run-up to yesterday’s performance, the cover of the Ultimate Edition was presented with numerous current stars and former legends, including Erling Haaland, Jude Bellingham, Ronaldinho and Rudi Völler. Now it’s clear: the regular cover does indeed feature Erling Haaland, who shot everything short and small at Manchester City last season. He succeeds Kylian Mbappe who has been featured on the last three FIFA covers.
What changes are there in terms of content? For the first time, female players will be represented in the most popular game mode: Ultimate Team. American legend Mia Hamm will be one of the first female icons in the game. The presented gameplay trailer, which you can view below, also reveals in this context that female and male players can apparently also be on the field together for the first time.
The further development towards “HyperMotionV” should ensure more authenticity; the technology aims to transfer the rhythm and sequences of the real football world to the game using volumetric data from more than 180 games, including the women’s and men’s Champions League, Premier League and LaLiga, and ensure even more realism. Thanks to the evaluation of the real Opta data and from other sources, the available “PlayStyles” give athletes individual skills on the virtual soccer field, so that they should feel more unique. The Frostbite engine used has been further developed, should deliver better player models and also show new details in terms of matchday experience.
As far as game modes go, as part of a player career you will also be able to hire an agent to help you in your career as you progress from club to club on the pitch and in a revamped personality system around the playstyles mentioned above become a unique player. Meanwhile, as part of the management career, you’ll have more or less total control over a club, allowing you to direct its tactics, coaches and more to bring it glory. Volta mode is also making a return and will feature cross-play.
Keyword cross-play: The feature will be greatly expanded in the new football title – to all multiplayer modes. There is cross-play between PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC as well as between PS4 and Xbox One. Only the Switch version is completely excluded from the feature. At launch, the previously supported modes will be expanded to include Clubs, Co-op Season, Volta Football, and Ultimate Team Co-op, in addition to Ultimate Team, Online Friendlies, and Online Seasons.
In terms of licensing, thanks to direct deals with FIFPro and numerous national leagues, you will not have to do without much compared to the previous FIFA series. There are over 19,000 licensed players, 700 teams and 30 leagues in EA Sports FC 24.
EA Sports FC 24 will be released on September 29, 2023 for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
