After Electronic Arts took over Codemasters, the WRC license was also brought back. However, another game is not currently in sight; instead, there is a roadmap for upcoming content.
Is it a test balloon for F1 and other titles or is EA simply trying to save money on the development of the smaller WRC brand? Whatever the case, unlike EA’s other sports series, there doesn’t appear to be a new WRC game this year, but there is a roadmap with planned content and expansions.
It starts in just a few days, on July 30th to be precise, with the Season 6 Rally Pass. In October, Codemasters will then include the 2024 season with a paid expansion that will include new vehicles, tracks and cosmetics, among other things. This will bring the game up to date with the real WRC season. A first DLC with new stages will follow in winter, followed by a second DLC in spring, also with new stages.
The most exciting thing is of course the season expansion that will be released in October, along with the adaptation to the real WRC season. Very practical: if you buy the WRC 2024 Season Expansion, you will also get the two DLC packs included, although these can also be purchased separately without the expansion. The WRC 2024 Season Edition even includes the main game, expansion and DLCs. Further details about the expansion will be announced in the coming weeks and months.
Regardless, Season 6, which starts next week, brings a number of new features, particularly to the Rally Pass itself. For the first time, players will also be able to unlock liveries for cars outside of the WRC (Rally1) class, as well as additional sponsor stickers for the Livery Editor. Rewards will also be grouped together, so you can equip your driver with a full set of new cosmetics, rather than having to unlock each piece one by one across multiple levels. Moments will also return in Season 6, and the Season 6 Rally Pass will be free for all players.
