Elden Ring Tarnished Edition Exclusive Content Coming to Switch 2
Many third-party games from PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC are making their way to Nintendo Switch 2, starting with launch titles like Hogwarts Legacy, Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition, Street Fighter 6, and Sonic x Shadow Generations.
Most of these titles (except those from Marvelous) will be released in Game-Key Card format, similar to Star Wars Outlaws. This has raised concerns among video game preservationists and fans of traditional physical media.
Elden Ring Tarnished Edition is one of those titles. It’s the definitive version of FromSoftware’s 2022 Game of the Year, including the base game and the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion in one package for Nintendo Switch 2.

No technical details have been shared yet about this version, but it’s confirmed to feature content not available on other platforms.
For example, new appearances for Torrent, the main mount, as well as a new armor set—these features are exclusive (as part of the Tarnished Edition) to the hybrid console. A similar case applies to Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, although its exclusivity is temporary.
Through Famitsu, FromSoftware has confirmed that Elden Ring for Nintendo Switch 2 includes two brand-new, never-before-seen classes, which will only be available via paid DLC on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
Exclusive Features for Switch 2
At the start of a new game in Elden Ring Tarnished Editionplayers will be able to choose from two new classes not found in other versions: Ides Knight and Heavy Knight. Don’t worry, though—they’ll be available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC in the future.
Switch 2 users will have access to both classes from the start. While no specifics have been provided yet, it’s assumed these classes are ideal for players who prefer more robust builds with strong defense.
The downside is that both the Ides Knight and Heavy Knight significantly reduce your character’s mobility, so keep that in mind during character creation.
FromSoftware has announced that the exclusive features of the Switch 2 version—like Torrent’s new appearances, the new armor, and the two unreleased classes—will be made available to other editions as paid DLC.
So, if you want the most complete open-world Soulslike experience, you have two options: buy the Tarnished Edition on Switch 2or purchase the DLC on another platform.
Expected Performance on Switch 2
According to Digital Foundry, Elden Ring on Switch 2 will likely be comparable (in resolution and performance) to the PS4 and Xbox One versions, although no official details have been confirmed.
