With the move to Canada, Volkswagen is therefore continuing to implement its global battery strategy. This new plant will primarily supply battery cells for electric vehicles from the various brands in the product group across the Atlantic (Volkswagen ID, Audi E-tron). The first sustainable unit cells will come from the Canadian plant in Saint-Thomas from 2027, and alongside that goal, Volkswagen also aims to become the largest offering of 100% electric vehicles in the United States.
