Electronic Arts has brought in more staff to ensure that upcoming action role-playing games don’t hit the wall and the good lady has many years of experience with AAA titles.
EA has brought in well-known reinforcements. Connie Booth takes on the position of Group General Manager, Action RPG at the publisher. In other words, she oversees a whole range of productions from EA Studios, including EA Motive with their Iron Man, Cliffhanger Games (Black Panther) and also Bioware, which is currently working on completing Dragon Age: Dreadwolf and then the next Mass Effect on the launch pad bring to.
Booth has a lot of experience controlling such large-scale projects. She was employed at Sony for almost thirty years and was most recently Head of Internal Game Production, where she worked on virtually the entire first-party portfolio of Playstation titles, including Uncharted, The Last of Us and Marvel’s Spider-Man.
Booth was fired from Sony in October, at least according to former employees, following internal disputes over Sony’s growing interest in live service games.
“Connie has helped build Sony Interactive Entertainment’s internal studios for more than 30 years and is responsible for the development of some of its largest franchises,” wrote EA Entertainment boss Laura Miele, “including Marvel’s Spider-Man 1 & 2, The Last of Us, Ghost of Tsushima, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, to name a few. I have known Connie for many years and have always been impressed by her love and commitment to games. She is particularly passionate about game developers. She has one impeccable reputation within the development community and will undoubtedly have a positive impact on our games.”
Booth’s hiring is likely to be part of ongoing restructuring at EA, which has already seen the loss of nearly 700 jobs, alongside a primary focus on its existing brands.
