“We have hope again for a new Killzone, a dark Battlefield or a C&C that isn’t a damn mobile game,” say the makers of The Forever Winter. The stated goal: Back to dark and adult settings and away from intrusive microtransactions. Compared to the post-apocalypse of The Forever Winter, even the Terminator future seems almost friendly! Here, an endless war rages between huge armies of killing machines, while we search the rubble for useful loot and avoid the bloodthirsty conflict parties as much as possible. Once we’ve made some loot, we bring it to our underground hideout, where there are no killer bots, mechs, bombs and other dangers lurking. The battles are controlled dynamically and autonomously by the AI. There is no PvP, we survive alone or in co-op. Between expeditions to the surface, we can tinker with weapons and equipment in our base. The Forever Winter will launch into Early Access on Steam on September 24th and will offer four finished maps, a range of weapons, five playable characters and the first big boss enemies that look particularly nightmarish. The price will be around 30 dollars. The developers emphasize that The Forever Winter will never be pay2win and that they want to ensure fair monetization. New characters, maps, quests and weapons will be released free of charge and without a paywall.
