Epic Games and LEGO have announced a collaboration. The focus is on a new Metaverse project or a digital gaming experience that is intended to take up the LEGO universe in a family-friendly manner.
In a press release, The LEGO Group and Epic Games announced a new collaboration to work on a “family-friendly digital experience”. According to the announcement, the partnership is long-term and will “shape the future of the Metaverse.”
In the further course of the announcement, the word “game” is avoided as a matter of principle, but overall everything said sounds in this direction. The digital experience is intended to be “immersive, creatively inspiring and engaging” and aimed at children of all ages. The vague statements of the concept sound like a mixture of Minecraft, Roblox or Fortnite’s creative mode.
Through the co-created LEGO experience, children should have access to all the tools to become confident content creators and create play opportunities in a safe, nurturing environment. So far, three basic principles have been agreed upon: prioritizing a safe environment, protecting children’s privacy and interests, and tools to give children and parents full control over their digital experience.
Platforms or a potential release period for the joint LEGO project have not yet been mentioned.
