The future of Marvel Studios is undergoing quite significant changes. This same morning, Disney CEO Bob Iger commented in an interview about the new direction that the House of Ideas will take regarding upcoming releases on the big screen, in addition to talking about the releases that will arrive in 2025.
However, there was something strange that everyone immediately noticed: Iger mentioned only two Marvel Studios movies coming out next year, Captain America: Brave New World
“As for our 2025 film release, we are excited to bring audiences Captain America: Brave New World y The Fantastic Four for Marvel, Pixar has Zootopia 2 and then there is Avatar 3. And we are already waiting for 2026 and beyond with Frozen 3, the first movie de Toy Story since 2019, and a new movie the Star Wars which brings The Mandalorian and Grogu to the big screen for the first time.”
As can be read in the statements, Iger does not mention at any time the two remaining films that were intended to be released next year after so many delays, Thunderbolts y Blade. Both films have faced different problems and it seemed that 2025 was the definitive year for their release.
Take this with a grain of salt, however, as there’s a chance that Iger simply forgot that these two films will also be included in Disney’s slate next year. In the end, being aware of so many projects can lead to confusion and errors that will later be clarified… or not. It will be a matter of time to know the future of these two films that have been highly anticipated by the public.
