news culture “Even more sponsors”: Le Joueur du Grenier castigates the new YouTube censorship
YouTube’s new policy has been making a lot of noise over the past few days and it certainly won’t stop. After many people noticed the censorship of swear words in Squeezie’s video, it’s other YouTubers like Attic Player’s turn to speak out.

The straightener is back
It was the big surprise a few days ago: YouTube has now changed its policy in France and is demonstrating all videos with the slightest swear word. Something that alarms a large segment of content creators on the platform, whether they have several million or a few hundred subscribers. It has to be said that YouTube’s speech recognition tool already seems to be very efficient and has started sanctioning a bewildering number of videos.
YouTuber Terracid even posted a video tweet listing all the Wankil Studio channel videos affected by this change, and the result is chilling:
To make you realize that between the abusive claims, the demonetizations related to the content or the swear words, it’s the equivalent of more than 2 years of videos that have been released demonstrated. pic.twitter.com/5jpTslK3DR

As I’m sure you’ve understood, we’re asking content creators to stop using swear words from now on, YouTube is also asking her to edit her previous posts to restore their previously acquired monetization. A colossal editing task that is unlikely to be completed any time soon. While some creators, like Squeezie, have already started replacing their vocabulary with beeps during editing, others seem to have given up in the face of such absurd regulations.
“Even more sponsors”
If the most relentless (or those with the biggest budget for hiring editors) are cautious and no doubt abiding by the new YouTube policy, this solution seems unlikely to others. Indeed, concerns about demonetization are not new, and many creators had already turned to other methods of rewarding their work. At least that’s what Le Joueur du Grenier points out in a tweet:
In real life, monetization has long been anecdotal for many Youtubers, there will always be more sponsors everywhere, on the smallest video

According to him, we should therefore expect more and more sponsored content on YouTube in the future.
I don’t agree with you Fred. The problem that should be overlooked is that young creative people have less and less creative freedom. Whether we like it or not, we’re also responsible if we don’t push a little (although I acknowledge our leeway is blah)

In any case, this decision by YouTube brings with it many problems for French YouTubers, who until now have been accustomed to not paying attention to their vocabulary while filming. Such censorship is obviously reminiscent of what is already happening in the USA for a lot of content and once again raises the question of possible alternatives to the giant Google.
