Rockfish Games has been working on the space sequel Everspace 2 for some time, but this too can now feel the effects of the corona virus. The first playable versions are noticeably postponed.

In a press release, Rockfish Games announced today that the release of the early access version of Everspace 2 on Steam will be delayed. This should no longer take place in September 2020, but only in December 2020.
Corresponding postponement will also affect the plans regarding the closed alpha and closed beta, which will also take place later. The alpha test phase has now been scheduled for the end of May 2020, the closed beta will only increase in August 2020.
The background to this step is the cancellation of the Game Developers Conference due to the spread of COVID-19 aka the corona virus. Since the big industry event does not take place in mid-March, important meetings with platform operators and potential co-publishing partners for Rockfish Games also fall flat – and this sometimes leads to delays.
However, the corona virus is not the only reason for the decision; Rather, this was also taken from a strategic point of view, since one wanted to avoid the almost simultaneous release of two AAA sci-fi shooters.
