The movie Until Dawn, an adaptation of the must-see PS4 horror game, has made several announcements in the last few hours. It’s progressing very well and a familiar face is back.
After The Last of Us series, the one on Twisted Metal and several films like Gran Turismo or Uncharted, PlayStation Productions will lead Until dawn On the big screen. And for this, the company turned to David F. Sandberg, director and screenwriter of the horror film In the dark (Lights out). “I wanted to return to horror after Into the Dark and Annabelle 2: The Creation of Evil, and this film explores the subgenres of horror to create the scariest experience possible.”
The film Until Dawn has really started, the cast is growing
PlayStation continues its transmedia strategy, using as many licenses as possible in cinema and on the small screen. In parallel to the Until Dawn remake, a film directed by David F. Sandberg is therefore in production. The original game by Supermassive Games, released in 2015 for PS4, deals mainly with the slasher subgenre. A group of friends head to the mountains to have fun, but their trip quickly turns into a nightmare.
Even though the interactivity will no longer be there, the director wants to capture the essence of the game. “By capturing the essence of the game but introducing new characters, it provides a great entry point for newcomers. While also offering something new that fans of the game will appreciate.” added Sandberg. There is no release date for this film, Until Dawn. On the other hand, there is great news for fans, as things are looking up again. A photo was shared on the official X account of the feature film, symbolizing the start of filming.
This photo was published a few hours after The Hollywood Reporter exclusively revealed the new faces of the casting. And there is a surprise for players, as the cinematic work will remain faithful to the PS4 game. Peter Stormare, who plays the psychiatrist Alan J. Hill known as “The Analyst”, reprises his role in the film Until Dawn. Since his interventions depend on the player’s progress, we are curious to see how he can interact in this adaptation. Maia Mitchell and Belmont Cameli join Peter Stormare, and the other actors already announced, including Michael Cimino, who was in Annabelle 2Ji-Young Yoo, Ella Rubin and Odessa A’Zion to be seen in the remake ofHellraiser.
