Things are in full swing internally for the Xbox exclusive series. The highly anticipated Hellblade 2 has just reached an important new milestone in its development.
Hellblade 2 has been very discreet since its announcement at the 2019 Game Awards. The Xbox series console exclusivity has been delayed amid the health situation that has slowed development. Where Ninja Theory openly communicated about its progress for the first game, its sequel was silent for a few months. This week, the British studio returns with reassuring news, but one that will disappoint those who were hoping for a very soon release.
Hellblade 2 development is progressing well
The development of Hellblade 2 has just passed another important milestone. While the continuation of the adventures of Senua hasn’t been spoken of since her seductive gameplay sequence at The Game Awards 2021, except when she was in the heart of a controversy, things are looking up internally. Ninja Theory has announced that the entire motion capture portion is officially over. In other words, the developers have all the necessary tools to properly animate the characters, cutscenes, attacks, dodges, and other elements.
In other words, it only remains for the British studio to model and incorporate the movements or even the facial expressions as the bodies of the actors in Hellblade 2. Things are moving, but what does this information mean for the release date? Hard to say at this point as it all depends on how the studio works. This in no way rules out the possibility of a 2023 release, but we shouldn’t count on it arriving in the early months of next year. However, this news gives hope for a new trailer at the Game Awards 2022, as the game has always been shown at this event. And who knows, maybe a Hellblade 2 release window will finally be announced?
